To properly send emails through Mailchimp, certain DNS records must be added to your domain. These records help authenticate your email and improve deliverability so messages do not get flagged as spam.
Orthodox Web Solutions handles all DNS changes on your behalf.
Step 1: Request DNS Changes from OWS
When setting up Mailchimp, Mailchimp will prompt you to authenticate your domain and will generate specific DNS records (typically CNAME records).
Once you reach this step:
-
Copy the DNS records Mailchimp provides
-
Submit them to Orthodox Web Solutions by opening a support ticket
-
Clearly state that the request is for Mailchimp DNS authentication
You do not need to make any DNS changes yourself.
Step 2: OWS Applies the DNS Records
Our team will:
-
Review the Mailchimp-provided DNS records
-
Add them safely to your domain’s DNS configuration
-
Confirm once the changes are complete
DNS updates usually take effect quickly but may take up to 24 hours to fully propagate.
Step 3: Authenticate the Domain in Mailchimp
After OWS confirms the DNS changes:
-
Return to Mailchimp
-
Click Authenticate or Verify Domain
-
Mailchimp will check the DNS records and complete the authentication process
Once verified, your domain will be authorized for sending email through Mailchimp.
Important Notes
-
Do not remove or modify existing DNS records unless instructed by OWS
-
If Mailchimp updates or adds new DNS requirements in the future, simply submit a new request
-
If authentication does not complete right away, wait several hours and try again
