Files vs. Images

The Site Manager has two areas where you can upload media:

  1. Images
  2. Files

Images

The "Images" area under "Media" is for standard image formats of the following types: JPG, PNG, and GIF.  Files uploaded to the "Images" area will be available for usage on your website via the image selection window found while working with components and page sections. It is highly recommended to create directories before uploading images. Note: Images and their directories may be safely moved without breaking links and references to those images.

Files

The "Files" area under "Media" is for all other non-image file types, for instance: PDF, MP3, and DOC.  Files uploaded under "Media" -> "Files" will be available for selection and linking through the "Files to share" or "Recently File Uploads" drop downs. You may also use your uploaded files in page sections such as "Components - Audio" and "Components - PDF". It is highly recommended to create directories before uploading files. Note: Unlike with images, moving files may break links and references, so please do so with caution. Sharing video is best accomplished by using a video service such as YouTube or Vimeo as video takes a large amount of disk space and such services offer better content delivery performance.
