The Store Customers Audit tool helps administrators review customer account activity and identify accounts that are unused or likely created by spambots. It provides an overview of account activity and allows you to safely remove accounts that have never been used.
Accessing the Customer Audit
Navigate to:
Store → Customers → Customers Audit
This page displays statistics about your customer accounts and lists accounts that may be safe to remove.
Overview
The audit provides a summary of customer activity, including:
- Total number of customer accounts
- Number of active accounts
- Number of unused accounts
- Accounts likely created by spambots
An account is considered active if the customer has interacted with the store in some way, such as placing an order or accessing their account.
Unused Accounts
Unused accounts are those that show no meaningful activity. These accounts may have been created accidentally or by automated bots.
Accounts may be considered unused if they meet all of the following conditions:
- No orders have been placed or started
- No items have been added to the wish list
- No items exist in the customer library
- No activity has occurred in the customer area
Probably Spam Accounts
Some unused accounts are further flagged as probably spam. These accounts typically match patterns commonly associated with automated registrations.
These accounts are often safe candidates for deletion.
Viewing Unused or Spam Accounts
You can choose which accounts to review using the toggle above the account list:
- All Unused – Displays all accounts that have never been used.
- Probably Spam – Displays only accounts that appear to have been created by spambots.
Deleting Accounts
To remove accounts:
- Select the accounts you want to delete using the checkboxes in the table.
- Click Delete Accounts.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Only accounts that meet the unused criteria can be removed through this tool.
Important: Deleting accounts cannot be undone. Be sure to review the selected accounts before confirming the deletion.
Best Practices
Running the Customer Audit periodically helps keep your store database clean and reduces clutter from unused accounts created by automated registrations.
