Important: The Protected Files feature must first be enabled by Orthodox Web Solutions (OWS). If you do not see this functionality in your Site Manager or would like to use protected downloads for digital products, please contact OWS support to have it activated for your account.
Store Protected Files are secure files that can only be accessed through the store system. These files are typically used for digital products such as downloadable audio, documents, or other content that should only be available to authorized customers.
Accessing Protected Files
Navigate to:
Store → Protected Files
This page lists all files stored in the protected files directory used by the store.
Uploading Protected Files
To upload a new protected file:
- Click the Upload File button.
- Select the file you wish to upload.
- The file will be stored in the protected files directory.
Files uploaded here are not publicly accessible through direct URLs. Instead, they are delivered through the store’s secure download system.
Protected File Access
Protected files are accessed through secure download links generated by the store. These links verify that the user requesting the file has permission to access it.
This allows you to distribute digital products while preventing unauthorized downloads or direct file access.
Common Uses
Protected files are commonly used for:
- Audio recordings
- PDF documents
- Digital books or study materials
- Exclusive downloadable content
File Naming
File names are automatically displayed in a readable format in the protected files list. Hyphens are converted to spaces and certain file extensions may be removed when displayed.
Security
All downloads are processed through the store’s secure download handler. This ensures that only authorized users can access protected content associated with their purchases or assigned library items.
